Traffic Engineers – 20 Positions (Municipality & Urban Planning)


  • ● Supervising engineering technicians;
  • ● Analyzing and interpreting traffic data;
  • ● Reviewing and developing various types of engineering drawings and reports;
  • ● Coordinating and facilitating neighborhood groups and projects to improve traffic safety and operations;
  • ● Developing bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure plans;
  • ● Responding to right-of-way concerns of citizens, staff and elected officials;
  • ● Providing assistance in the development and monitoring of budgets and contracts.
  • The incumbent should have strong written and verbal communication skills for making presentations on technical subject matter to staff, citizens and other groups.

Job Requirements

  • ● A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related technical field.
  • ● An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
  • ● Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays,and evenings may be required.
  • ● Moving objects weighing up to 20 pounds may be required.
  • ● Requires working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.

Preffered Qualification

The job requirements listed above, plus:

  • ●College coursework and/or work experience in traffic engineering, including, but not limited to, traffic calming, traffic signal systems, and roadway design and operation.
  • ●Experience preparing written correspondence and public speaking.
  • ●Engineer-in-Training certificate.
